The Integrated Project of Developing the Iron Ore Province of the Kuragino District of the Krasnoyarsk Region

The Krasnokamensky Rudnik JSC is a town-forming enterprise of Krasnokamensk that produces iron ore concentrate. In 2008, the mine stopped and was given for reorganization (curing) to a new owner. The mine has regenerated its losses and a decision of the asset’s future fate had to be made quickly.

The operator of developing the Krasnokamensky Rudnik JSC was ARCO Ltd.

The integrated project included several stages:

1. The development of the growth concept for Krasnokamensky Rudnik (KR) JSC. The feasibility study of the project. Part 1. Part 2.

2. The launch of the mine. The company reached a production volume of 300 thousand tons of ore per year.

3. Financial audit.

4. The inclusion of new fields into the resource base of KR JSC.

5. The development of project documentation on modernizing the ore mine and reaching a new quality of ore with 60-62% of iron.

6. Development of an integrated project for using the iron ore concentrate to make metallized pellets and use them to create Sorel metal on the base of the Chemical-Metallurgic Plant JSC of the Krasnoyarsk City in partnership with the Holland company Hencon.

A complex project was developed that includes two additional limits with high additional cost in a partnership with foreign technology suppliers. The sale of the asset to a new owner was successfully completed and ARCO left the project.
