Estimation of prospects for creating refined copper production out of copper scrap

The goal of this given investigation was an initial evaluation of the possibility of creating a business in production of refined copper out of copper scrap.

Within the framework of the completed job:

1. The volume and structure of the resources for production of refined copper were calculated. The balances of volume and the involvement of the Russian Federation and foreign nations into refining scrap were researched. The structure of scrap involvement in various process stages of production of refined copper was examined.
2. The analysis of consumption markets for copper were analyzed as per different stages of copper production (blister copper, cathode, semi-finished and finished products).
3. The analysis of technologies used by the main Russian participators for refining copper scrap was completed.
4. An analysis was done of foreign suppliers of complete technological chains for producing copper out of scrap and separate parts.
5. The main limitations for creating production were defined.
6. A pricing analysis was performed. Economic models were built that determine the profitability of refining depending on the prices for blister copper.
7. Production sites for placing the factory that would make copper out of copper scrap were found on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Region.
8. An analysis was conducted for various options of implementing the project within the framework of a state-private partnership, in order to reduce the volume of capital infusions and lower of operational expenses.
